Todd Hames

Todd Hames operates a 4,900-acre grain farm in the middle of the Canadian prairies, near Lloydminster, Alberta. He is a dedicated zero tillage farmer having grown canola, wheat, peas and barley under conservation tillage for 20 years. Todd holds a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Alberta. He was employed as a computer software engineer before returning to the family farm in 1991 to begin farming full time. Todd is a strong advocate for farmers and Canada’s canola industry. He joined the Alberta Canola Producers Commission Board of Directors in January 2008 and became one of three Alberta representatives on the Canadian Canola Growers Association (CCGA) Board of Directors that same year. During his 6-year term with CCGA, he represented the association on the Grain Growers of Canada and the Canola Council of Canada. He served as CCGA’s President for two years. In his tenure as director with these associations, Todd has represented the canola industry at many levels, including: local grower meetings, international oilseed producer meetings, with media, and through appearances at Parliamentary Standing Committee meetings. Todd is an active member of his community participating in executive positions with many local volunteer boards and committees. He farms with his wife Janine and their four daughters.
