Laura Wellesley

Research Fellow - Energy, Environment and Resources
Chatham House

Laura is a Research Fellow in the Energy, Environment and Resources Department at Chatham House. Her focus areas include food security, climate change and sustainable diets. Laura was a lead author on Chatham House’s 2017 report, Chokepoints and Vulnerabilities in Global Food Trade, which explored the systemic risks arising from a reliance on a handful of critical trade junctures. She leads the department’s work on sustainable diets, and was lead author on the 2015 report, Changing Climate, Changing Diets: Pathways to Lower Meat Consumption. She also serves as a member of the London Food Board for the Mayor of London.  
Prior to joining Chatham House, Laura worked as a researcher at Global Witness, with a focus on mineral extraction and governance in Afghanistan. She has an MSc in Africa and International Development from the University of Edinburgh and an MA in Modern and Medieval Languages (French and Spanish) from the University of Cambridge.
