Ms Olena Kovalova, PhD, is the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.  She was appointed to the post in December 2015 with the primary responsibility the rural development, agro-industrial sector’s strategic development, including grain and other agricultural markets. On behalf of the Ministry, she is responsible for coordinating the work of the Grain Market Working Group that was launched by the Ministry with the support from The UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization and the European Banks for Reconstruction and Development. The Working Group includes the largest representatives of the grain market: traders, producers and processors of grain.  She is also Ukraine’s representative at the Rapid Response Group of G-20’s Agricultural Market Information System (AMIS). 
Prior to her appointment, Ms Kovalova headed the Department of Strategy and Economic Development at the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. She has more than 12 years of work experience in the agricultural sector. She also worked for 7 years at the National Scientific Centre "Institute of Agrarian Economics", and is an author of over 90 scientific publications in economics and management of agricultural sector.
