Adam Sparger

Adam Sparger is an economist with the Transportation Services Division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing Service in Washington, D.C. He researches agricultural and freight transportation issues at USDA with a focus on railroad transportation. In addition to authoring USDA reports and academic articles on agricultural transportation, his research and analysis are used to inform internal USDA policy positions and rule makings. Sparger co-coordinates the publication of the Agricultural Refrigerated Truck Quarterly Report, Transportation of U.S. Grains: A Modal Share Analysis, and Grain Transportation Report. He also helps develop and review USDA's regulatory filings on rail policy with the Surface Transportation Board.Sparger is a member of the Transportation Research Board and Transportation Research Forum, providing an agricultural economic perspective to rail and freight transportation issues. He received an M.S. degree in Agricultural Economics from Virginia Tech and a B.A. in Economics from the College of William and Mary.
